Man works from sun to sun, but forgets the One who made the sun. We are easily carried away by daily activities (eating, drinking, marrying, buying, selling, planting, and building, and often lose sight of life’s real purpose, the end of life, and the end of time. Hausa people say Duniya, budurwar wawa (The world is a fool’s paradise). Jesus says, we are not different from people in the days of Noah who were told about the impending and destructive flood, but bluntly refused to enter the saving ark in time until the doors were closed; we are not different from people of Sodom who were warned ahead of God’s wrath and were too busy to listen; we are not different from the wife of Lot who was carried away by enjoyment and perished. Procrastination is our major challenge. Procrastination, from Latin procrastinare, is “to postpone or delay.” We delay everything, including plans to be good, plans to improve, plans to move ahead, plans to pray, and plans to open new chapters in our lives. Ethiopians say, "Don't procrastinate or you will be left in between doing something, having something, and being nothing." Igbo people say: “Emesia, emesia bụ ọnwụ na egbụ onye umengwụ”("Later, later" is the death that kills a lazy person). English people say procrastination is the thief of time. That is to say, delay is dangerous. We can overcome procrastination through planning and executing our good plans daily. What efforts are we making to get out of the procrastination trap?
