STATIONS OF THE CROSS HELD AT ST. THERESA’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, FUNTUA
3/6/2026
The faithful of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Funtua, gathered in large numbers to participate in the solemn devotion of the Stations of the Cross as part of the ongoing Lenten observances. The spiritual exercise drew parishioners of all ages, united in prayer and reflection on the passion and suffering of Jesus Christ.
The devotion commenced with an opening prayer led by Catechist Kefas Bako, who called on the faithful to enter into the spirit of the season with sincerity and repentance. Following the introduction, the congregation prayerfully journeyed through the fourteen Stations, meditating on Christ’s path to Calvary. At each station, reflections were read, prayers were offered, and hymns were sung, creating a deeply reverent and contemplative atmosphere within the church premises.
As the faithful moved from one station to another, many were visibly touched by the significance of the moment, reflecting on the sacrifices of Christ and the call to personal conversion. The calm and prayerful environment allowed participants to connect more deeply with the Lenten message of sacrifice, forgiveness, and renewal.
At the conclusion of the devotion, the presiding priest, Rev. Fr. Reuben Ahmodu, addressed the congregation, encouraging them to remain steadfast in their Lenten commitments. He reminded them of the importance of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as essential pillars of the season, urging all to continue drawing closer to God through acts of love and self-denial.
The Stations of the Cross ended with a closing prayer and a final blessing imparted by Rev. Fr. Reuben Ahmodu. The faithful departed with renewed spiritual strength, encouraged to continue their Lenten journey with faith, hope, and deeper devotion.
