Malumfashi Parish Concludes Laity Week with Thanksgiving Mass
The St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church Malumfashi marked the successful conclusion of its 2026 Laity Week with a thanksgiving Mass held on Sunday, March 22, coinciding with the Fifth Sunday of Lent. The Holy Mass, which commenced at about 9:00 a.m., was presided over by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Cyril Ibe. The celebration was offered in gratitude to God for the fruitful and impactful Laity Week programme, which began on March 15 and concluded the same day. Throughout the week, parishioners were enriched by a series of talks centered on key themes of Catholic Social Teaching. These included promoting human dignity as the foundation for national development, solidarity and the common good, subsidiarity, stewardship, and the preferential option for the poor and vulnerable. The sessions were delivered by distinguished speakers, including Mr. Jonah Joseph, Sr. Maryanne Omeke, Dr. Zachary S. O., Mr. Henry Nwachukwu, and Mrs. Binta K. Charles. In his homily, Fr. Ibe reflected on the Gospel reading from John 11:1–45, themed “I am the resurrection and the life,” emphasizing faith, hope, and renewal among the faithful. The Mass concluded with prayers of thanksgiving, bringing the week-long spiritual and intellectual exercise to a successful close.
