The Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON), Katsina Diocese, on Wednesday, 13th May 2026, officially handed over the National Youth Day (NYD) Cross and Marian Icon to the CYON Kano Diocese. The solemn and spirit-filled ceremony took place at St. Martin De Porres Cathedral, Katsina Diocese.

The delegation from Kano Diocese arrived at approximately 2:00 p.m. and was led by the Diocesan President, representing the CYON Kano Diocese. Upon arrival, the team was warmly received by Rev. Fr. Victor Chibuzor Somadina, the Katsina Deanery Chaplain, alongside members of the Catholic Youth Organization of Katsina Diocese.

The official handover ceremony was conducted by the Katsina Deanery President, Mr. Francis Emmanuel Nwakor, (Representing the Diocesan President Mr, Francis Martins) who formally presented the NYD Cross and Marian Icon to the Kano Diocesan President. The ritual prayers accompanying the handover were led by Rev. Fr. Victor Chibuzor Somadina.

Following the ceremony, light refreshments were served, and the Kano delegation departed joyfully with the NYD Cross and Marian Icon
